Stripped Console Screw

Last season, I noticed that one of the screws that secure the console to the deck is stripped.

I am looking for best practice, tips, or tricks to remove that stubborn screw.

Any and all suggestions are welcomed.

I assume the screw head is what is stripped and not the threads formed where the screw goes into the fiberglass. If there are screws where the phillips head is going to strip or, in my case, have stripped then ez outs work. For stubborn screws that you know will strip or even shear off this tool works great.

I used this tool with the #4 phillips head with the fasteners that bolt down the cleats on the gunwale. You hold the handle and give it a bit of left hand torque then strike the top with a hammer and it drives it down counterclockwise and helps loosen those stubborn fasteners.

Correct, the screw head is stripped.

Thank you both.
