Repair of Hull Surface Gouges, Stripped Fastener Holes

Postby PatSea » Tue May 09, 2017 6:54 pm

I just removed the railing around my Sport 13. The stanchion on the front of the boat has three stripped holes. How do I go about repairing this? I've never done any fiberglass work, but time to learn as there are a few hull surface gouges that need repair also. Thanks.

While there are many methods, one of the straightforward ones is this. Tried and true.

Tape off the area with painters tape.
Slightly over drill the hole slightly enlarging it (not too large, still covered by base plate)
Fill the screw hole 1/2 way with Gorilla Glue (a polyurathane expanding adhesive). Let cure. Trim off excess and retap the screw hole.
Remove tape.
