1996 Outrage 24: Fabricate Replacement Plexiglass Chart Cover

My 1996 Outrage 24 is missing the smoked plexiglas chart cover that goes over the right side of the console next to the wheel. I believe it has two bends in it to allow it to fold over the edges of the console. Can anyone who has their cover PLEASE give me some measurements so that I can get one made. I called Whaler and they said the vendor went out of business and referred me to Beacon Marine. Sue at Beacon has offered to get it made if I can get some measurements. Any help would be appreciated. In case you don't get any responses, you can fabricate up a template using cardboard or fiberboard and then do the measurements from that.

Thank you! That is very helpful. It looks like it has no fold forward and is folded down on both sides, while the rearward portion folds down to possibly hand over the switches so that any water might run down aft of the switches to keep them drier? Mocking one up from cardboard is a great idea. Thank you for the solid advice. Bill

Phil's recommendation to mock up a replacement cover with cardboard is a great idea.

Making a replacement from Plexiglass should not be too hard--it could even be a do-it-yourself project if you are adventurous. Depending on where you are located and the size of your town, you might be able to find a local fabricator that can work with Plexiglass. Look for a "display shop" or place that makes custom signs or point-of-sale displays. That sort of shop will know how to cut, polish, then heat and bend clear plastic sheets to make your replacement.

You could also re-design the cover slightly and let it have wooden sides. It would be a way to get a bit of teak or mahogany on that console.

I can run by storage this week and try to get measurements for you. It looks to be 1/4" plexi glass. and the are some funky angles but I will do my best.

You can still purchase a direct replacement of these. They arent cheap, but you're not going to go broke getting a new one.
