How can a bracket for an auxiliary engine be mounted on a 1995 Boston Whaler Outrage 17?
The stern quarter seats and bait well are across transom. Interior under-seat area is curved.
Can a bracket be attach with through-bolts?
Or, should bracket be attached to swim platform?
Thank You, Huey White

Re: Too much transom weight
Huey -
I have owned this model for a long time. Are you sure you want to add the weight. This model is very sensitive to stern weight. 380lbs max.
Where is the waterline in relation to the transom drains?
While you can through bolt, I would not install a kicker.

If one end of a through bolt bears on a curved surface, you must fabricate a custom spacer to match the curved face on one side and create a flat face (for the washer and bolt head to bear against) on the other side. Make the spacer of generous size to spread the loading.
Before commiting to the addition is a bracket and an auxiliary engine, assess carefully the effect of all that added weight on the boat's trim. As Phil has wisely advised, adding weight to the transom of a c.1995 Outrage 17 boat may not be a good plan.

I had a similar model, a 1991 17' Outrage that I ended up mounting a bracket on. I took it to my local dealer amd for an hours worth of labor, had it installed in no time. I hung a 4-stroke 5hp merc on the back and it worked great. I didn't notice any ill effects and I liked having the piece of mind of the kicker.
I think a 6hp 2-stroke would be a good match for that.
My main power source was a 1991 120hp Johnson and was about 365 pounds.
