Transom Wedge on 1989 15
I am thinking about using some transom wedges on my 1989 15 with a 2006 Yamaha 60hp 4 stroke. I was told that newer 4 strokes trim don't go down as far as older 2 strokes. This will give me more angle to get the motor under the boat. Has anyone done this?

Having been on this and other Whaler boards for 15 years, I don't recall much conversation regarding the trim feature on a 2 stroke and 4 stroke being different.
Is what you are hearing coming from someone who sells or just bought this product for a Boston Whaler?
In doing a search on transom wedges, I only found one thread on point. See Tom Clark's comments.

If you have problems regarding trim, It would be more appropriate to review the prop selected and weight distribution in the boat.

Re: Transom Wedge on 1989 15
Thanks for your reply. I actually did get a new prop and it was professionally evaluated for the boat 1989 Super Sport Limited and the 2006 Yamaha 4 Stroke. The recommendation was a stainless prop 10.5 and 13 pitch. The boat rides amazing with the prop. The concern of the wedge came out of the possibly lowering the motor which you can not due with out drilling new holes in the motor transom bracket or adding a lowering plate due to the limited space in the splash well. I feel that there is just a limited adjustment that can be made when raising the trim due to the resting angle of the motor. When the motor is all the way down and the boat is not moving the motor looks to be at 90 degree angle.

It is possible to lower the motor but it is worth asking a few questions.
When the 2006 motor was installed, were the old holes filled in and redrilled or used the old OMC bolt pattern?
Please review FAQ #8 and 9 here:

Where is the anti-cavitation plate in relation to the bottom of the hull? The general consensus is the plate should be 1 1/2 - 2 inches above the bottom of the hull.
My apologies for saying this but I think the prop is wrong. Look at this thread and see the various prop model and sizes for the same motor and hull.

I know you don't know us but many members trust Tom Clark's prop recommendation. He is a guru on Whalers and props.

Interesting. The prop that was on the boat was 10.5 x 15 and I could not get the rpms over 5K. I think one big variable is that the 15 Super Sport Limited weighs considerably more than a standard Super Sport. The fiberglass seating insert and rear casting deck are very heavy.
Prop
What is the make and model of the prop? Size is not universal across models, let alone brands.
What is the weight distribution in the boat, location of battery, fuel tank?

Re: Transom Wedge on 1989 15
The prop is a Stainless PowerTech 10.5 x 13 pitch. I will have to look up the exact model number. The gas tanks a 9 gallon, 6 gallon and battery are all in the back of the boat. As for the holes for the motor they were drilled for original 1989 Yamaha 70hp. And I need to correct that the prop that was on the motor was an aluminum 11 x 15.
