I have a 1971 13-footer which has the old style 15-inch-shaft height transom and am re-powering with a 20-inch-shaft E-TEC 30. I will need to modify the transom.
I may purchase a pre-fabricated unit by Nauset Marine that installs in the transom notch. (Linked below.)

Has anyone purchased this fiberglass unit?
Has anyone done [something] similar to make [a 15-inch transom] into a 20-inch transom?
I have also seen a pre-fabricated aluminum unit by Kent Marine, but I prefer the fiberglass to the aluminum.

This is the first I have read of Nauset Marine's product.
I would be interested to know how it compares to Ken's product in terms of:
If you prefer the Nauset Marine's product for just the color you may want to consider powder coating the transadapter in the appropriate color.

Re: NAUSET Marine Pre-fab Unit to Raise Transom to 20-inches from 15-inches
Last fall I started the project to raise the transom on my 1969 13' Whaler for a long shaft motor.
I am using West System Epoxy, plywood and glass mat to fill the notch. Now waiting for warmer weather to finish the fairing.
I have the skill to do this project and I'm a cheapskate so my way makes sense for me.
The labor time and material I have invested make the Nauset Marine filler look like a fair deal. Figuring the price of a 30 E-tec it isn't that much more.
I have read that the Kent Marine filler is no long made.

[Six years later thread is revived]
Visit https://www.kentfabrications.com/transdaptors or call 781-659-3355.
Kent Fabrications [i.e., this poster] is still producing the transom "transdapter" for the older 13-foot hulls with a notched transom for use with short-shaft or 15-inch-shaft engines to allow use with long-shaft or 20-inch-shaft engines. They are $475, are in-stock, and ready to ship.ConB wrote:I have read that the Kent Marine filler is no long made...
