Montauk 17 Towing with bow eye

Postby Mambeaux » Mon May 14, 2018 5:23 pm

I want to tow my 17 Montauk about 200 miles on vacation behind a larger boat. Is the bow eye strong enough for the job?

Or should I make other plans?

The bow eye is through bolted. If the hull is in good shape and the through bolt firmly seated, towing a moderate speeds ought to work. How well it tracks will be unknown.

What speed will you tow at? If you are towing with a sailboat, no problem. Towing at 35-MPH, problem.
