[The fuel fill line and tank vent hoses on a 1986 OUTRAGE 18] definitely needed replacing. To get the fuel fill hose out was a fight. The rubber was rotted so badly and the metal inside the rubber was very rusted.

I'm installing my new fuel line.

Is there a sealant I could use on the cut edges and ends of the fuel line to seal the metal?

I thought [sealing the cut ends of the fuel hoses] may help to keep [the metal in the hoses] from rusting.

JB Weld? A good RTV?

Thanks,
Don

When I replaced all the hoses on my 1991 Outrage 17, I did not apply anything.

While I am not aware of a material designed for that specific purpose, you could use brush on liquid electrical tape after you have inserted the hose and applied the clamps. It dries to a waterproof coating and that would help lessen oxidation.

The proposed (but unspecified) “sealant” would need to be able to withstand prolonged exposure to gasoline-ethanol blended fuel. What sealant can do that?

A Permatex type RTV gasket maker type sealant is resistant to petroleum products and at the moment, we can still get ethanol free gas Jim, premium only. I also have some liquid electrical tape Phil, but the RTV is more flexible so I'll see which of those products that may work.
