Hello all. I have a 1998 GLS 13. The top scupper was leaking. The previous owners were not very diligent with routine inspections.
Upon removal and further inspection of the top scupper I found that the wood around that scupper hole is gone; from 0.5 to 1.5-inch around it rotted away.
I also inspected the bolt holes that hold the engine: all four seem dry and rot free.
The transom does not have any stress cracks anywhere; it does not flex upon acceleration or when I pull on it.
How should this [that is, the repair of the wood rot around the top scupper] be approached?
What is the best and most cost effective way of repairing [the rotted wood around the top scopper]?
Thanks in advance.

Re: 13 GLS Transom Repair
By the phrase “top scupper,” exactly what are you describing?
Are you talking about a cockpit drain to the sea that is in a sump area?
Or, as implied by the thread title, are you talking about a drain from the engne splash well to the sea?
