Purchased Whaler last Fall. Just found an older Shorestation hoist but there are no rollers or bunks to support the keel of the boat.
I am thinking that length and width wood supports will be necessary because of the unsupported distances between aluminum front/back and sides.
Do I add bunks, rollers or just let the boat keel rest on the bare wood which covers aluminum I-beams without additional support?
All opinions valued.
Regards, Bigbear

Re: Boat Lift Support for 1984 Montauk - Part 2
I would add 12" keel rollers to the front/back of both cross members to protect the hull from hitting them and would have the keel sit on the rollers.
I would add bunk brackets and 6' or 8' bunks, similar to a trailer setup.

Phil, Thanks for the information. Just to clarify you suggest only 2 12" rollers. The distance between the rollers would be approximately 103". Will 2 rollers provide sufficient support for the keel when separated by that distance?
Thanks
Thanks

Actually I am suggesting 4, 2 on each side of the crossmember.
Given that each roller assembly (bracket, roller, pin, end cap) runs ~$50, you can elect to just have two and then rig the bunks so they take all the weight. https://www.sturdybuiltonline.com/12-inch-Stoltz-Keel-Roller-Assembly-Kit-with-Stainless-Shaft-and-Galvanized-Bracket_p_1371.html
