Mercury Guardian System

Postby Paulo » Fri Aug 10, 2018 9:29 pm

Hello all. This is my first post here.

I have an 2007 150 Montauk with a Mercury 60-HP FOURSTROKE Bigfoot outboard engine. The Guardian system alarm went off a few time while out fishing. I brought boat back to the launch ramp at 2000-RPM. When I got home I discovered the engine thermostat was corroded shut.

I got a new thermostat and impeller kit from my Mercury dealer. I installed all new parts.

Today I launched 150 Montauk. The alarm continues to go off on occasion—very annoying.

The Mercury 60-HP FOURSTROKE Bigfoot outboard engine oil was changed beginning of the season and is at proper level.

I checked the charging voltage output at the battery and is 13.9-Volt.

The propeller is good and torqued properly.

I need direction at this point on what to do.

Have you read in the Engine Owner's manual the section that describes the warning alerts and what they are ?

If you do not have one, it is a worthwhile investment, as is a SERVICE manual.
