HI. I have a 1988 Super Sport Limited 15. I would like to remove the plastic storage box under the front bench seat and install a fuel tank.

To anyone who has done this, what size tank or which model would fit?

I prefer the largest size tank possible.

I had a 1983 15.
I had a custom made tank to my specs to fit under the bench.
28 gallons.

Some thoughts, I raised the seat about 1.5”
The angles welded on the ends for bolting down were about 1/2” lower then the tank edge, to account for the deck crown.

That is a good idea to look into getting a custom tank made to fit. I will have to look at the ability to raise the bench seat, I think with mine being the Limited it might be different than what you had since it is part of the fiberglass console? Thanks for your help.
