Navigation Lamp Connector Repair

Hi. I have a 1981 MONTAUK 17. While mounting the classic [white all-round light pole lamp], I attached the snap-plug male leads to the female receptacle in the harness; the male pin snapped off in the female connector.
I was able to pull out the broken pin with needle nose pliers, but now I have a lead with a pin snapped-off
I am sure I can replace [some part referred to as "it] with a (4-gauge) heat shrink snap-plug, but how do i get the jacket off the lead on the lamp pole without cutting the wire?
Cutting the cable would shorten its length. A new [white all-round pole lamp] is expensive, and I'd like to repair mine first.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
