1972 Katama 16 Retaining Bow Locker Hatch

Postby hermit » Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:08 pm

[On my 1972 KATAMA 16 the boat came to me with the ] bow locker hatch without any attachment hardware and bungee. I ordered a direct replacement hardware kit. I mounted one new pad eye onto the plywood using the two existing screw holes. When attempting to mount the other pad eye inside the locker, I found no holes nor signs of patched holes.

Where does the pad eye go? How does one drill the holes?

I also wonder if there is a common upgrade from the little bungee cord to something like hinges that has been applied to the 16' 7" hull bow locker lid.

I use hinges as the bungee does not hold crap when you launch off a 4' wave.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).
