1989 Outrage 22 Fuel Gauge Replacement
1989 Outrage 22 Fuel Gauge Replacement
Hi. I have a 22 Outrage and I noticed the other day, regardless of the fuel level, my fuel tank level gauge was reading Empty. I opened the access port, unscrewed and removed the sending unit and gauge. The tank is the original 77-gallon tank from Florida Marine Tanks.
Recommend a replacement that will work.
Thank you

Be sure the problems is not much simpler before you buy all new gear. The dial pointer is only coupled to the float sender magnetically. I have seen situations where the magnetic link uncoupled and the pointer goes to EMPTY.
Or, the float may no longer be buoyant, and just the float needs to be replaced.
If you need replacement parts, replace with the same float sender and gauge. See

Probably your float is no longer buoyant, I put a new float on mine and it works just fine. Mine has the arm attached to dial. Post a pic of yours. If the same its an easy fix if its just the float.

You can easily check the float when gauge is removed by moving the arm.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).

Hey guys, Bryan here from e-Components. I just wanted to share that while our original website is still functional, we created a new one several years ago that is commerce enabled with a section dedicated to Whalers. http://www.LiquidLevels.net. I will eventually redirect the old site to the new one but for now they’re both live. We can also be reached by email or telephone (804)462-5679 and text messages To the same number work quite well, particularly when you have photos to share.
