Friend purchased 18 Outrage

Postby dtmackey » Sun Oct 27, 2019 10:02 pm

A longtime friend of mine purchased an 18' outrage with trailer and Yamaha 200hp outboard for $2000. The boat needs some TLC and he will repower, so he asked if I wanted to the motor and all rigging, so I ran up to Maine and grabbed it. The boat has been under cover for 5 years and a mess, but will clean up quick.

The motor removed in my truck.

Unloading.

It'll stay here until Dec when I can free up room in my garage and an outboard engine stand.

Took advantage of the nice day and prepped and shrink wrapped my Waverunner, Whaler, Mako, but ran out of time to wrap my Aquasport. The wrap on the last port quarter of the Mako is wrinkled because I ran out of propane and quit for the day.

Did he happen to know how fast it went with the 200?

I've always loved Maine, very simple and nobody minding your business. I was stationed in the area my friend lives back in my Coast Guard days aboard the buoy tender Spar in 87. USCGC Spar is now a reef somewhere off the NC coast.

If you like marine history, here's the link to the Spar. http://www.nc-wreckdiving.com/WRECKS/SPAR/SPAR.HTML

I know you lived in Maine and have fond memories.

Sorry, I do not. Previous owner hardly every used it and he wasn't a speed demon, so I'm willing to bet the boat rarely went above 1/2 throttle.

The boat already has the tank cover off and the tank comes out next and a new tank will be fabricated. The boat cleaned up nice and was filthy from sitting for 5 years.

I'll post up some pics as things progress.
