My 2010 Dauntless 200 has the pilot seat with live well. One of the [seat back frames] is broken. I do not know how to remove the stainless bracket [associated with the hinge for this frame]. I have no access to the nuts inside the [integral live well under the seal].
[Seeks advice on how to remove the fasteners holding the stainless steel bracket on the seat-live well on a 2010 DAUNTLESS 200]
Thanks

This part has a frequent failure rate due to age and fatigue.
I would replace the nylon part with a stainless bimini fitting. Check the rail diameter.

2010 DAUNTLESS 200: Broken Seat Frame
Thanks for the tip, the problem is that I don`t know how to remove the screws to replace the part.
Re: 2010 DAUNTLESS 200: Broken Seat Hinge Pin
Here is the parts diagram for the 2000 Dauntless 200.

If through bolted, with one hand, take a phillips screw driver for the front and use pliers, socket, vice grips, etc., for the back side.
Q1: Does this line up with what you have?

2010 DAUNTLESS 200: Broken Seat Frame
My seat is shown [in SHEET 3 of the linked drawing set mentioned above]. My seat has the integrated live well. I don`t have access to the fasteners inside.

Q2: How is [the seat base with live well on a 2010 DAUNTLESS 200] bolted to the deck?
You might have to get to [the internal fasteners] from the bottom [of the molded seat base].

On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).

Q3: Can the live well under the seat cushion be removed from the molded seat base?
Since the boat is still in the 10-year-warranty period, perhaps a Boston Whaler dealer could assist you in making this repair, or at the least, offer some advice. Or, contact Boston Whaler customer service and inquire with them how to access the fasteners inside the molded fiberglass seat base.
It would be unusual for the hinge bracket to be fastened to the seat base in a manner that made it impossible to have access to the internal fasteners. Having to remove the seat base from the deck, as Nick has mentioned, seems like a major inconvenience
Q4:Are there hoses, pump, strainers, and other plumbing integrated into that seat base?
If so, Boston Whaler must have made some provision to get access to them

Re: 2010 DAUNTLESS 200: Broken Seat Frame
If you just want to remove that acorn nut on the hinge that holds the frame to the hinge, use Vice-Grip or similar pliers to hold the machine screw; you will have access to it through the broken plastic tube. Then unthread the acorn nut from the machine screw. The machine screw or hinge bolt may be captivated inside the seat base.
Since that plastic end fitting is broken, if it interferes with holding the hinge pin in the Vice-Grips, just cut or grind the plastic end fitting out of the way.

Thanks to all. I will call Boston Whaler. I have tried everything, even taking out the rod holders to access the nuts inside. As soon as I do this I will post the solution.

Re: 2010 DAUNTLESS 200: Broken Seat Frame
I have this same problem. Both sides of the RPS plastic delvin pins have broken on my 2011 Dauntless. Same problem: I cannot access the nuts on the inside to remove this part.
Q5: Did [the originator of this thread three years ago] get any insight?
Q6: Do I need to cut an access hatch to accomplish removal?
Q7: What is a source for those plastic pins?
Q8: What is good alternative to using plastic pins?

Apparently the originator of the thread from three years ago has not returned as promised to provide a solution or he never did get a solution. When reviving threads that are three years old, there is no guarantee the originator of the thread is still monitoring his thread for new posts. It is best not to direct questions directly to the thread originator when reviving old threads.cwbirkeland wrote:Q5: Did [the originator of this thread three years ago] get any insight?
Also, I think your real interest is not if the originator of the thread found a solution. If you have the same problem, I think you are looking for a solution and are more interested in fixing your boat than learing if the originator was able to repair his boat.
