SeaStar 4-inch Jack Plate

Postby Zotcha » Sun Feb 16, 2020 2:32 pm

I have not visited CW in quite a few years. I sold my 1982 Sport 15 with Bob's 5-in-1 manual jack plate 24-lbs and a 2005 Yamaha F60.

I’m getting ready to complete a conversion of a 1988 SPORT 15 to a center console. This time I am considering a hydraulic jack plate, and a lightly used 2000 Yamaha 90-HP two-stroke engine.

[Seeks first hand comments about the] SeaStar 4-inch hydraulic jack plate 65-lbs.

I purchased a second home a few years back and want to fish skinny out of Hernando Beach. Any assistance appreciated.

I don't know if they have much of an advantage over a fixed. Yes you can get it a bit higher at times but you need a low water pickup to do so. Len had one on his 15 with an E-TEC 90, and I personally thought it was too heavy and did not bring much to the table over his manual plate he had before.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).

A load of 65-lbs on the transom of a 15' Whaler is just crazy and the last place I'd look to add weight, especially if you going with a heavier outboard. If I were you, I'd look at the TH Marine Micro-Atlas jackplate. It's powered and weighs only 23-lbs; it is rated for 90 to 115-HP depending on weight. I took a serious look at these last fall.

While I really hate Amazon, they beat TH Marine in price by several hundred dollars. Yikes.
