HI - I am looking for some recommendations for an alternative [fuel] tank for my 1979 SPORT 11. The boat has a molded fiberglass rear seat, a small wood console, and a wood bench thwart. I do not need to carry a lot of fuel. I [want a new fuel tank that will be] a quick and easy option.
Recommend a fuel tank that will fit under the console.
Or, if I remove the rear storage lid [recommend a fuel tank that is small and can fit] in there.
Q1: will a Moeller 14-gallon fuel tank [fit] under the seat?
Q2: will a Moeller 14-gallon fuel tank fit under the thwart in an 11-footer?
Under the thwart is the best location [for a fuel tank].
I read of a custom aluminum [fuel tank] that some guy made.
I would like [my new fuel tank to fit] in that location [i.e., under the thwart] and have that look.
Q3: is there a prefabricated [fuel tank] that will work?
There are not many interior pictures of the 11-footer that show where people are keeping their [fuel tank].
Thanks.

A 14-gallon tank on an 11-footer'?
I run a three-gallon tank, and it sits in front of the thwart.

On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).

Agreed and in his opening paragraph he mentioned not needing to carry that much fuel onboard. I'd think 3 gals or if needed, 6 gals is more than plenty. Some engines will run all day with that much fuel.

I also have a 1979 SPORT 11. I mounted a [ SEPTRE Model 10506 3-gallon red fuel tank, 19.3 x 12.2 x 6.8-inches LWH and sold by Bass Pro Shops, shown below] under the center thwart seat. I had to raise the thwart seat 3/4-inch in order to fit the tank. This worked out perfectly, and I didn’t lose any floor space.
