Older Sport 15 Console

Postby PJMSport15MY1984 » Sat Oct 24, 2015 4:02 pm

My wife and I have a 1984 Boston Whaler Sport 15, which we are restoring. [Seeks] any information on fiberglass consoles for these hulls. We would love to have a later generation Sport 15 GLS console, but they are no longer in production. We have looked at the Carolina Skiff consoles, but they just don't quite look right. Please help.

If you want to go custom, I could replicate any part of my custom 1986 15ft. Whaler. I built a mold for the fiberglass part of the center console, and made patterns for the other parts, including the RPS seat. The console is about 3" taller than the original, and more comfortable to sit behind. I could also have a plexiglass windshield made. The glass portion of the console is hinged to tilt forward, to make working inside easy.

You did a beautiful job. Could you make a starboard side one just like the one you made?

AFAIK, Whaler 15 center consoles are just cut down 17 consoles.
That should open up your search choices.
Because of the limited deck space I put hinges on the front of mine to allow easy access underneath.

You can see pics of mine here.

I don't think starboard is the proper material to build a console from, especially if I was building it for someone. I would probably end up eating it.
