Mischief 15: Modifications for Angling for Halibut

Postby MisChief15 » Wed Mar 27, 2024 3:14 pm

I have tried to [modify my MISCHIEF 15 to be suitable for angling for halibut in San Francisco Bay].
So far, I've:

1. fixed abrasion of the keel using the West System K-105 repair kit. (have not yet painted it red)
2. Changed engine oil, oil filter, and lower gear case lubricant on the Yamaha 60 HP engine
3. Added a Minn Kota quick mount/release for the trolling motor forward.
4. Redone the Electrical System
a. Added a second battery (used Tesla 5.3 kWh, 24 V)
b. Moved the original battery in the back to the front in the hole, then used liquid foam to secure it
c. Added Blue Sea Systems battery switch.
d. Added Blue Sea System eight curcuit breaker power distribution panel
e. DC-DC converter
5. Add a Fusion audio system (Media player, 5 channel Amp, four 6' speakers and one 10" subwoofer)
6. Added a Standard Horizon HX-890 handheld VHF Marine Band DSC radio
7. Added a horn
8. Added a Hummingbird 9 SONAR and chart plotter
9. Added anchor and anchor ball retriever system

Below are photographs

Right now, I keep the fish finder in front of me for some wind shield effect, if it's too obstructive, I can move the added rail mount to the side.

I really want to remove the second seat base, but don't like leaving holes and marks on the floor, so it stays for now.

Q1: what other modifications should be made to improve the boat for angling for halibut?

Thanks
