Outrage 25 - Deck hatch molds

Postby cc378 » Fri May 13, 2016 9:04 pm

I recall a thread where a member made molds to build new forward deck hatches for his Outrage 25. I am intestated in making new hatches. I can't find the old thread. Does anyone recall the thread and/or who the member was?

Thanks

Stephen

Stephen -

I did a quick search of the old forum archives with no results. You may give it a go and see if you can find it.

Do you have the original hatch lids? If so, what's wrong with them? If the core material is shot, that's an easy fix. If you don't have the original hatch lids, making a mold to match the originals may prove difficult, and very time consuming, especially if there are radiuses and other than flat shapes to contend with.

What was the original, factory-laid glass and marine plywood combination for a deck plate for a [1983] Outrage 25?

I just stripped completely [my 1983 Boston Whaler OUTRAGE 25], made templates of what was there, and now have to order Coosa Board to reinforce. It looked to me like [the original, factory-laid glass and marine plywood combination for a deck plate] was 3/4-inch or possibly even 1-inch thick.

Since you have the original deck hatch, why aren't you able to measure that component to answer you own question?
