1994 DAUNTLESS 15 Re-power

Postby rnobles3 » Sat Jul 16, 2016 2:11 pm

[Recommend an] engine for my 1994 Boston Whaler 15 Dauntless [between 50-HP and 70-HP]. I am thinking of a Yamaha 70-HP, but I don't want too much.

I would choose a 70-HP engine for a Dauntless 15. You have to ask yourself a few questions.

The Dauntless series is somewhat notorious for being sensitive to too much weight aft. It's easy to sink the scuppers. I have no idea what the weight of the lightest 70-HP engine may be, but that would be the only 70-HP I would consider.

Explored the rarely seen areas of the Mobile Tensaw delta in a recently re-powered 16-foot boat with a new Yamaha F70--that is one impressive engine.

It looks like the Yamaha Midrange F70 only comes in a 20-inch shaft, but that should work on a 1995 DAUNTLESS 15.
