1969 SPORT 13 40-HP

Postby michael0584 » Thu Jul 21, 2016 3:48 pm

[Give me] some recommendations for the right propeller for my 1969 SPORT 13. I currently have a 1969 25hp Evinrude. A few years back I bought a 1967 40hp Evinrude big twin. I'm finally getting around to getting the 40hp fixed up to go on my boat. The current propeller is dinged up. I am thinking replacing it. I use the boat for fishing and normally have another adult and a few kids with me. The 25hp always seemed to move the boat well, but I always was looking for more speed. Now I want to be able to pull the kids on tubes.

[Seeks] input on a good all around propeller.

Thanks for the help.

Don't run the engine with damaged propellers.

Is there a tachometer on the engine?

Can you measure boat speed?

I do have a tiny tach that I will be installing, and I was able to pull the current prop and find the specs on it. It is a 10 3/8x14. I've found a good deal on a 10 3/8x12.5 and I may go ahead and order it and see how it performs. I have not run the motor on the boat yet. On my 25hp, I ran a 9x9, I also had a 9x10 but with a load the motor couldn't get to optimum rpm.
