Classic 13-footer, Mercury 25-HP: Towing Tube

Postby david860 » Mon Jul 03, 2017 7:49 am

I have a classic 13-footerwith a 1996 Mercury 25-HP two-stroke-power-cycle outboard engine. I would like to tow a one-man tube. What pitch propeller would you recommend? Thanks.

Since I am here I'll ask the obvious. What pitch are you running now, and at what RPM? And how is that working out for you?

But with that boat and that power you will probably want a 13.

I have a 12 inch prop that works hard getting out of the hole. I have not run it full throttle while pulling a tube. It seems to work too hard getting started.

I can see that being the case. I think the 13 pitch is the standard prop for a 2 stroke 25 Mercury. It looks like you can get a 11 or 9 pitch for that outboard. It might do the trick but you'll be changing your prop a lot.
