1988 17 Supersport/Striper Repower

Postby #1Stunna » Tue May 15, 2018 3:50 pm

Hello all,

Helping a friend of mine re-power his 1988 Super sport/Striper/Montauk Hull.

When new it had an 88 SPL Evinrude 20" Shaft.

Re-powered with 1993 Merc 125 2 Smoker 25" Shaft.

Question is, we have the option of either 20 or 25" shaft Yamaha F115.

Do we go w original OEM shaft length or go w 25" that is on boat now?

Thoughts?

20" shaft.

The F115 is pretty heavy (402 lbs dry) so it would be good to shift weight forward.

Mounted 2 holes up with either:
13-1/4" x 15" Turbo 1 or Yamaha Performance Series
13-1/4" x 16" Yamaha Painted SS
1992 Outrage 17
2019 E-TEC 90
