2011 200 Dauntless 200 Verado

Postby Motorboater222 » Mon Sep 23, 2019 1:52 pm

I have a 2011 200 Dauntless with the four- cylinder 200 Verado with 210 Hours.

[What will be the difference in performance if the propeller is changed to] a REVOLUTION4 17 pitch, from an ENERTIA 18 pitch—the propeller came from the factory?

I can only squeeze 42-MPH at around 6000-RPM. Boston Whaler factory test shows closer to 48-MPH.

I am running on a 1/4-FULL tank of fuel and hardly any gear, driving alone.

THE Mercury prop selector is showing 17 TO 18 pitch but more of the 17 pitch, which should bring the engine speed closer to the 6250-RPM called for. Thanks for any input.

Keep in mind the Whaler testing is not easy to replicate.

As the report http://bostonwhaler.com.s3.amazonaws.com/resources/200-Dauntless-Performance-2011.pdf shows, the boat is empty, 38 gallons of fuel, no gear, 2 people, no bottom paint, anchor, chain, rode, fenders. Water temp was 77 and in protected water.

Are you trimming way out?

I would raise the engine 1 hole and retest. The factory engine mounting height is a bit conservative. You may be able to gain several hundred RPM's for free.

The REVOULTION4 propeller is a very large and very heavy propeller designed for large and heavy boats.

The ENERTIA propeller was designed specifically for the VERADO engine and to let it increase engine and boat speed.

I doubt the boat or engine will run faster with the REVOLUTION4 than it does with the ENERTIA, even with the one-inch reduction in pitch. But give it a try and post the results.
