1964 Currituck 16 100-HP

Postby Buoy » Mon Feb 10, 2020 7:29 pm

Hi all.

Q1: [What will be the] performance [of a 1964 CURRITUCK 16 with a 1968 Mercury 100-HP outboard] engine?

Q2: [What will be the] expected top speed?

Q3: Has anyone ever owned a c.1960 16-footer with the Mercury Thunderbolt 1000?

Assuming:

    --clean bottom
    --dry hull
    --light load
--more than 85-percent of original compression
--properly mounted and rigged with an appropriate propeller

I would expect a WOT speed of 40 to 43-MPH.

With PTnT I would add another 5mph to that estimate.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).
