NEXUS Application Long Delays

My NEXUS card expired last year. In late May 2016 I re-applied for a renewal of my NEXUS card. About ten weeks later, in early August, I received a new card. According to some comments I have been reading on various forums, a ten-week delay between application and any action from DHS is typical with regard to NEXUS applications.
Having a NEXUS card is quite an advantage when entering the USA from Canada by boat, as it absolves you from having to report in person to a customs and immigration entry harbor. However, everyone on the boat must be a U.S.A. citizen and have a NEXUS card to permit re-entry in this manner.
