South West Michigan Get Together

Postby Dutchman » Wed May 09, 2018 10:55 am

Any Whalers out there interesting on getting together some weekend during the summer here in SW Michigan.

I was thinking like a South Haven to Saugatuck or vice versa. Or Saugatuck to Holland or vice versa. Holland to Grand haven or vice versa or New Buffallo to Michigan City onE way or the other.

These are all 10 to 20-nautical miles over open water and each port has a couple of miles of river we can putt around up and down. Overall a nice day with lunch at the go-to Port and dinner at starting-finishing port.

All these ports have nice boat ramps.

Let me know if there is any interest and when you can go and I'll organize it.

Personally I like to look at the last couple of weekends in July or first couple of weekends in August.

DUTCH--getting together would be fun, but my Summer weekends are practically already full. We've got family flying in several weekends, a couple of trips already planned, and--of course--still have to work an occasional weekend. I will watch to see what evolves, and if it fits in, I'll be interested.

I'm pretty open most of the weekends this summer with exception of the weekends of June 23 (must do Vessel Exams), August 25th, July 7th.
Any other weekend I'm open as of now so maybe we can find a mutual Saturday or Sunday when we can get together.

We should be able to find some IL, IN, and or OH people within a couple of hours that could join us. Let your fellow Whaler know and I'll start planning. PM and/or direct email is fine with me.

Dutch, nice of you to explore the possibility of a get together and any of the locations you mention would be great. They all also offer inland options if the big lake is not small craft friendly. I hope to join you in my 160 Dauntless this summer. Thanks! Todd

Thank you Todd the "Inland" options is also why I thought of the places I mentioned.
All we have to do now is find a date for all parties involved

Todd what about Saturday June the 30th for a Whaler run. Let's say from South Haven to Saugatuck or Saugatuck to Holland and vice versa.
let me know and we must try to drum up more Whalers.
