Replace Lowrance sonar - Montauk 170

I have the original Lowrance sonar that came with my 2003 Boston Whaler Montauk 170. Is it difficult to replace including wiring running through the hull? I am having some problems with the Lowrance getting scrambled readings after about two hours of boating and turning it off and on did not fix the problem.
