How do you remove a 2-inch filler plug from a boat gauge panel? I want to install a depth finder in that slot. Thanks. I am new to boating.

Typically there are two or more prongs on the backside that keep it in place.

Remove the panel, turn over and push the tabs in with a flat blade screwdriver.

You probably will be much farther ahead if you DON’T install a 2-inch round depth sounder.

Any “depth sounder” will need a SONAR transducer mounted on the transom. You will be much better off getting a combination GNSS receiver, chart plotter, multi-function color display, electronic navigation charts, navigation computer, and full-featured SONAR with classic echogram display all in one unit. It won’t cost much more than a “depth sounder” and it will be hugely more useful.

I would not attempt any boating these days with just a digital depth 2-inch display. I want to see a SONAR display so I can see what the bottom contour looks like and how it is trending.
