SOLD: 2014 Montauk 170 in South Carolina

Postby CorpHooky » Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:50 pm

FOR SALE: a 2014 Montauk 170 with a little over 40-hours. It is practically new with 32-hours freshwater use and only a little over 8-hours of saltwater use--and flushed immediately following. It has a new 2018 E-Z-Loader top-of-the-line model AB 16-18 2800 aluminum trailer with less than 1,000 miles. I have added a lot of nice features which make this rig much nicer than factory
:
    * EZ Loader: Break away tongue, oil bath bearings, Aluminum spare wheel, S.S. Boat Buckle Ties Downs, LED Lights, Upgraded Fulton Winch
    * Mercury Platinum Protection for 90-HP FOURSTROKE engine until 3/15/23 (everything is covered)
    * Mercury Smartcraft Ecomonitor Tach Gauge with full alarms and digital trim gauge.
    * Mercury Smartcraft Link Redundant Trim Gauge
    * Redundant Voltage and Water Pressure Gauges
    * Lowrance HDS-5 GPS Combo with Downscan Imaging
    * New Carver Ind. Navy Blue Sunbrella Custom Cover
    * Navy Blue Bimini Top
    * Navy Blue Console Cover
    * Navy Blue Pilot Seat Cover
    * Bow Cushion
    * Custom Designed 94 Qt. Igloo Cooler Adapter (Easily install factory live well over the top and quick-connect hoses)
    * Moeller 22 Gallon gas tank and custom mount (quality designed floor mount and optimal use of available space)
    * Foot and Engine oil/filter just changed
    * New bilge pump
    * (2) New Taylor Made Bumpers
    * New PVC-Coated Anchor Chain
    * New 15 Lb Mushroom Anchor
I don't have to sell, but would be willing if someone is interested. I have over $28,500 invested in materials alone. I won't take less than that right now. If interested, please call Kenny at (864) 314-1277. Thanks.

Just a few more photos of the live well installed and Mercmonitor and console gauges. Although the cooler adapter may look simple at first glance, it actually took quite a lot of time and errors to figure it all out. It's not easy making a cooler support that utilizes the existing Whaler brackets, only adds two small floor anchor points, can be adjusted to various cooler widths, will fit underneath the existing Whaler live well, clears the existing live well pump, does not change access to the sump with the live well installed, is made of light weight and corrosion resistant materials, and will provide access for quick-connecting the live well pump and drain hoses. You won't find another one like this and it offers more flexibility for fishing/space utilization than any other Montauk of this generation. Also, I did not mention before, but a fairly expensive Mercury conversion kit and CAN wiring harness was required with the Mercmonitor gauge. Note: The screws are only missing on the dash plate because I took the photo just after the gauge installation and before I reinstalled the screws. The installation of the cable, trim sensor, and other parts was not done in one afternoon and this system alone would easily exceed $1,000 installed by any shop. Lastly, you can't see the details of the Moeller 22 gallon tank mount in the pictures, but it is not a "typical" installation. I created electronic drawings of the pilot seat and built this mount using engineering drawings to be sure the tank would fit as far into the seat depth as possible to save deck space and with very little tolerance between the tank and seat opening dimensions, so no room for tank sliding. You won't find a Moeller tank installed/secured any better. Thanks.

I'm reducing the asking price to $27,500. So far, this is this only place I have listed this boat for sale as I know the fine folks here appreciate a nice Whaler more than most other places. However, I'm getting a little more pressure to sell now so I'll be posting on Boat Trader, Craig's List, and other boat sales web sites very soon. From what I currently see available and comparing to new Montauk 170 pricing, I don't expect it will last long. Thanks.

Just so folks know I'm not trying to take anyone for a ride on my asking price, please see my actual costs below (not including any shipping or labor costs). I bought the trailer at dealer cost directly from EZ Loader in North Carolina - the price seems elevated, but it is not your "average" trailer. Also, the Mercury Platinum Plan coverage is not cheap! I'm not trying to make any profit from this sale and only trying not to lose too much. Thanks.

I think my asking price of $27,500 is fair and already in line with the NADA value of a "standard" 2014 Montauk 170 with options that the program allows one to choose. However, the NADA program doesn't allow one to add other options I've added like a 5 year platinum warranty coverage for the motor, a much higher optioned trailer, Smart Craft gauges, a 22 gallon tank, and other improvements that will certainly bring additional value. This boat is practically new and I'm confident anyone purchasing will appreciate the great condition, improvements made, and be extremely happy to own it for years to come. Thanks.

Final price reduction to $25,000 (firm) and the Merc-monitor and link trim gauge will be replaced with the original tachometer and a SC1000 Systems Monitor for trim and other information display. Thanks.
