For Sale: 1985 MONTAUK 17 for $17,500. [Location unknown.]

I'm selling my Whaler due to moving and buying a bigger boat. Here are the details:

Here is the link to the Craigslist ad: https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/ ... 84657.html

This is a RARE opportunity to own a 17ft Montauk that is as pristine as they get for this year. This boat has been garaged and trailered since it was new. I am just one of a few owners. I'm selling due to moving, and also getting into a larger boat. Here are the details:
Powered by a Johnson Oceanrunner V4 90HP 2-stroke - these engines are BULLETPROOF! This one has low hours as well. I believe it is a 1996.
This Whaler obviously comes with a trailer - it is an EZ-Loader roller type trailer. I have the clean title in-hand.
The Whaler is paid for - no lien-holder. I have the clean title in-hand.

Here is a list of the NEW items -

- Newly re-done dash with Starboard - including a new rubber-coated steering wheel, new engine guage, fuel guage, and volt-meter. Also a brand new Blue-Sea Systems breaker panel.
- New Raymarine Dragonfly 7 chartplotter/fishfinder/depthsounder (easily removable - one single cable and unscrews from the base)
- New JL-Audio 200 watt 4-speaker sound system with bluetooth for phone or Ipod/Ipad linking (speakers are backlit with blue LED's)
- New Icom VHF with new removable Shakespeare antenna (it is the new-style that unscrews from the base)
- New Pro-Nautic 2-bank battery charger
- Two AGM batteries (new last season) with new selector switch (1, 2, 1+2, and off)
- New dual-tone horn
- New 1100gph Rule bilge pump (this one pumps A LOT of water - and FAST)
- New washdown pump - great for rinsing out the boat (or spraying people)
- Rail-mounted Scotty downrigger plates
- 6 Rail-mounted Scotty quick-release mounts (for fish cleaning tray, cupholders, rodholders, etc....)
- Transom-well mounted Scotty net holder
- New Moeller 24 gallon tank
- New LED nav lights (both bow and a pole-light for the stern)
- Swim-step with stainless ladder
- scotty electric downrigger plugs are mounted and wired
- The decals on both the boat and the engine are new (also has new placard inside boat showing capacities)

This Whaler also comes with -

- A keel guard (in case you want to beach it with no worries of damage) - I never did
- 4 new Blue fenders with red lines
- 4 new(ish) dock lines
- Bag of PFD's - 3 adult and 1 youth (youth is 50 to 90lbs)
- Flares and a new unopened air-horn
- 2 type 4 throw cushions
- a center-console mounted fire extinguisher
- A cooler (that also looks brand-new) that also doubles as a 2-person forward facing seat
- The woodwork is immaculate as-is all the vinyl (not old and crusty like most of this year)
The boat has tabs good through June of 2019
The trailer has tabs good through August of 2019

This is one of the nicest Whalers of this year that you will ever see - come see it and you will want it! This is a turn-key ready boat. You could literally leave my house with it and go straight to the boat-launch!
I am only accepting cash or a personal or bank check. In the case of any sort of check for payment, I will require that we go to the bank together and deposit the check so that funds are absolutely guaranteed. No scams allowed here. Also, I am asking that only serious buyers respond. Also I am not looking for ANY sort of barters or trades. Thank you - I look forward to showing this incredible boat!

From the Craigslist link and the Washington registration, I'd assume the boat is located near Seattle, Washington. And to Masbama's assessment of the value, I'd agree. There isn't much value to the motor or trailer, so nearly all the value is in a 33-year-old hull that will be nearly impossible to finance at anywhere near the asking price, not to mention that this is the time of year that most people looking to buy a boat are looking for bargains.

You've got one of the best boats and motors ever made. Your Johnson 90 Ocean Runner is a big plus. In fact, probably more desirable than a too heavy 90 or 100 HP 4-stroke on the same boat. Trailer is a problem. Boat and motor look great - trailer looks awful. Buy a new bunk trailer and sell the old roller trailer to help pay for it. One the the best boat trailers for a classic 17 Whaler is the King KB-1750, made in your own back yard - Marysville, WA. Then, you would have a great boat-motor-trailer package at less than half the price of a new Boston Whaler Montauk 170.
