Re: FS: 1979 21 Outrage $10,000-Canadian in Newfoundland
ASIDE: I was a bit curious about this boat, so I checked the driving distance for me from SE Michigan. You can't get much farther away to the East than Mount Pearl, Newfoundland.
It takes 41-hours of driving and 3488-km one-way. To drive out there, get that boat, and trailer it home would be 82-hours on the highway and 6,976-km or 4,334-miles. That is a long way to go to get a used Boston Whaler boat. Even at 10-hours of driving per day, that would be 8-days of driving, and I would need a motel each night, and meals on the road. I would probably spend about $1,200 on motels and restaurants.
I figure I could get 17-MPG on the way out and about 11-MPG on the way back. That would mean 128-gallons of fuel on the trip out, and 197-gallons on the way back, for 325-gallons. I'd have to buy most of the fuel in Canada, for about $5/gallon, so that will be $1,625 in fuel. It looks like out-of-pocket would be about $2,825 and I'd have to burn off a week of vacation.
I have talked myself out of going out to Newfoundland to pick-up this boat. It is too bad the boat does not have engines and is ready to go to sea. I could fly out and come back on the water. Now that would be a nice trip.

My fiance was from St.John and about 40 years ago being in our twenties we drove/traveled it in 38 hours from WMU in Kalamazoo, MI.
Driving fast and that included the 7 hr ferry from Sidney, NS to Channel Port, NF. The surprising part is the 8-9 hrs you'll be driving thru the moon type landscape of the island of Newfoundland. A truly desolate beautiful place very sparsely populated.
I wish the OP good luck as even somebody in Nova Scotia, CA still would have 18+ hrs one way travel time, hopefully he'll find somebody local.
