2005 19 Nantucket Four-blade Propeller

Postby johnbert35 » Thu Jun 20, 2019 8:47 am

Has a four-blade propeller ever been used on a 2005 190 NANTUCKET?

[My 2005 190 NANTUCKET has] a three-blade 15.5 x 17-pitch stainless propeller, and I would like to change to a four-blade propeller.

I am going to try a four-blade propeller on my 2003 190 Nantucket with a Suzuki DF140.

John -

The size will depend on what brand/model you are moving to since prop sizing is not universal.

While it is typical to move down in pitch, I would not want to hazard a guess. I would seek out a prop shop that is familar with Whalers.

One place that is a go-to for me is Ken Reeves @ PropGods. He is very knowledgeable about whalers and props. Many members here have used him.

I think you should get a four-blade propeller if you want one, even if no one else does.

You should abandon the OEM propeller that Boston Whaler chose for your boat and get a different one with four blades, if that is what you want.

Please let me know how you make out with the four-blade and its size.

Here are results of the factory testing and propeller selection:

The factory selected the MIRAGEplus 17-pitch. The performance looks very good. To obtain improvement will be difficult. The three-blade propeller is generally the best all-round propeller and is the choice in almost every Boston Whaler OEM rigging.

John:

Q: what engine does your boat have?

Q: what aspect of performance do you want to improve?
