190 MONTAUK Gas Lifts for Hatch on Helm Seat

Postby ferdinando » Sun Aug 11, 2019 6:22 pm

What is the length of the gas lift (shock) that holds up the hatch under the helm seat on a 190 Montauk?

Please give a better link to the information about gas lifts for the helm seat on a 190 MONTAUK.

Fred -

[edit - deleted non-applicable information given due to misreading the initial post.]

For the specific gas strut, I would give Sue a call at Twin Cities or reach out to Nauset Marine.

P.S. I take it you are away from your boat and can't look at what you have.

Fred,

Our 2009 190 Montauk has a gas strut on the live well lid but none on the helm seat.

I broke the two cables holding the lid on my helm seat while cleaning the insides. After looking at a You Tube video on a 2019 Montauk I saw that the helm seat now comes with a gas strut which is way better then the cables. I called Sue and she helped me out. The strut is 10-inch-long when extended. It’s going to cost me around $70 but I think it is well worth the cost.

The helm seat will use the same method as the baitwell strut. Thanks for all your help.
