This restored 1972 SOURPUSS 13 is NOT a project boat by any means. It's ready to show or be used today. This hull has the smirked bow appearance. The engine splash well is the sink-style (as opposed to the older 13-footers with a deep and wide engine splash well). The Sourpuss has a full width console with center steering. The 1972 model year was the last for the SOURPUSS interior. The boat is beautiful; you won't be disappointed when you see it.
The boat has
- teak wood interior refinished with premium Epifanes brand spar varnish
- new Teleflex NFB steering with optional NFB feature (no feed back)
- stainless steel destroyer-style wheel
- re-chromed original bow chock with navigation lamp on custom baseplate;
- new original style three-piece rub rail;
- original blue interior in very nice condition, that has been sanded and polished to save the desirable blue gel coat; the non skid area still looks great though obviously not polished;
- professionally painted with [Desert Tan] color, catalyzed urethane paint;
- a transom riser (for long-shaft motor) professionally crafted laminated from 1/10-inch-layered mahogany
- original optional high front railing
- no water saturated foam anywhere, ever;
- a new battery;
- all wiring under the console is new and done with marine wire; a fuse panel is under the console.
Recent service items:
- new water pump;
- carburetors cleaned and tuned;
- new 11-inch x 13-pitch propeller;
- dry cylinder peak pressure readings of 149 and 150-PSI--very high.
The VANSON-brand trailer has 14-inch wheels and new submersible LED running lights. The trailer is a heavy-duty model, and it is in sound mechanical condition. A new paint job on the trailer is needed to bring it up to the cosmetic level of the boat. With the large wheels and tires, I wouldn’t hesitate to haul it anywhere.
