Bluetooth Speakers for a Boat

Postby LCnSac » Fri May 06, 2016 11:16 am

[Give] recommendations for music-only speakers for my 150 Sport.

I've looked at Bluetooth amplifiers but haven't seen many positive comments for a $500 system budget.

I did a quick test with my Bose Soundlink Mini. On the deck the sound dispersed quickly, but under the console (land test only) it was loud with great bass. This speaker is too small and not waterproof, but the results were encouraging.

I've talked to some manufacturer support people, and although the JBL Xtreme looks like it has the best sound, it's not shockproof. I've come down to the UE Megaboom as the likely best choice. I would like to hear some feedback from those who have Bluetooth speakers. Thank you.

I second this recommendation. A great wireless speaker for the boat.

I bought the Exo speaker for the 17 whaler. It is OK, does't sound near as good as the Bose mini my wife has.
But, the bose is not waterproof or drop proof.
Thanks,

I [purchased] a Fugoo XL Sport. Haven't had [the boat] on the water yet with the engine running, but the sound quality, range of response, and volume was second only to the JBL Xtreme, which is neither waterproof nor shockproof--the Fugoo is both. It's loud enough that I can clearly hear it 75-feet away, and there's no distortion at full volume. The bass is good, but putting the unit in the console really boosts it while not oversampling to demote the mid and high range. About $250.
