Postby Harpoon » Sun Jun 26, 2016 8:05 pm

There is a Boston Whaler Harpoon 5.2 in the Race to Alaska (R2AK). They are called Team Bunny Whaler, and are from Bainbridge Island, Washington.

Website :https://r2ak.com/about/

The race is 750 miles, unsupported, must have no motor. Winner gets $10,000, second prize is a set of steak knives.

Yes the inland passage is do-able in a small boat, with exception of hitting the tide wrong and getting 12kts of current in Seymour Narrows, or the 30 nm of open Pacific between Port Hardy and Cape Calvert...or all the other navigational problems.

Interesting race, mostly small boats, cats and tri's. My neighbor is in the race, albeit on a large mono hull; their strategy is to hope for a storm that they can sail through but all smaller boats have to wait out.
