Beware of Sandbars

Postby Striper15 » Fri Jul 08, 2016 8:46 pm

This shows the damage a sandbar can do. It happened out of South Pass of the Mississippi River near Venice, La. Be careful out there.

When I started reading this post, I didn't think it was going to be very interesting. Boy--was I surprised. Those pictures are amazing!

Who gets salvage rights to those abandoned Yamaha outboard engines stuck in the sandbar?

And a tip of the hat to Grady-White for having a strong towing eye.

The outboards still belong to the owner/insurance company.
They are not abandoned property yet.

Allegedly the props have already been removed, which would be theft.

That is rather dramatic. And impressove that the engines are stuck nearly upright.

I'll bet that Grady had a rotted transom, something Grady's are well known for having.
