Steering Wheel Center Cap

Postby msbrown253 » Thu Sep 15, 2016 3:49 pm

Earlier this summer when I got my boat, the cap [on the centre of the steering wheel] was missing. I am an amateur woodworker with a lathe, and I decided to make a new one out of wood. Then a friend engraved the logo and colored it in for me. So far, it only has one coat of varnish but will have several more before installing. I am really happy with how it turned out.

admirable. Mine is missing and from what I recall wasn't as nice. The Whaler logo is a nice touch. I'd buy one like that in a heartbeat.

And a new business is born. Pricing? What would you pay?

Bring it on. The center on our Sport 13 just fell out while the boat was being trailered. Found it in the rear sump in good condition. All it needs is a little clean up and maybe a coat or two of varnish. But, it lacks the logo.

BTW, it looks like the only way to attach it to the wheel is via adhesive??

There is a set screw in the rim of the steering wheel that clamps onto the tenon on the back of the cap.

Thank you. My set screw took a walk.
