KING StarBoard color "Seafoam"

Postby Malsr » Fri Nov 18, 2016 1:29 pm

[I may] replace the bow hatch on my [1985--please always use FOUR DIGITS for the year, and do not write it as an abbreviation for feet] SUPER SPORT with non-skid KING StarBoard.[Give me] some feedback on the color "Seafoam" and how it compares to the Desert Tan gel coat?

I'm thinking the non-skid will come in handy when using the bow area as a casting deck. I've heard [the KING StarBoard color] "Fish White" is another color to consider, but the non-skid does not come in that color. Thanks!

[The KING StarBoard color] "Seafoam" is off-white like "egg shell white."

I found that that the "Seafoam" color was a good match for the off-white color of my 1984 15 Center Console and 1999 21 Outrage. I just made a leaf blocking panel on my 21 Outrage using "Seafoam" color KING StarBoard. I could take a picture of the panel. It is mounted on top of a factory plastic panel and butts up against the hull.
Thanks,
Duane

The "Fish White" color is going to be a much better match for Desert Tan:

For $10 you can order all the colors to check the match:

A picture would be great.

Is your [boat's] gel coat color Desert Tan? Thanks Duane.

I don't think a 1999 Boston Whaler 21 OUTRAGE hull was molded in Desert Tan. I think it was molded in Outrage Gray.

If the non-skid material is not made in the color "Fish White", you probably won't be able to get the non-skid in that color.

A little presumptuous on the color of my boat, having never seen it :-0
Not desert tan and definitely not outrage gray.

Here is the board I made using sea foam Taco starboard.
The bottom panel is the factory hinged panel, the upper panel is my leaf blocker. Almost identical in color, especially given the original panel is 16-17 years old.

My only presumption was your boat was molded in the normal colors. Outrage Gray is an off-white.

Outrage Gray is a color I'm not familiar with, at least by that name. Boston Whaler has a lot of gray color names. I'm pretty sure my Outrage is none of the grays. Boston Whaler does list Oyster as a 19XX color choice, which is off-white. But white is also a listed color for my model year.
Thanks,

Can you mention the URL of the resource you are using that is supplied by Boston Whaler that lists the color names by model year? I'd like to have that URL for future reference.

Re your boat color--I think we both agree it is not Desert Tan. That was the question asked.

I am quite surprised that in Boston Whaler's own chart there is no mention of OUTRAGE GRAY. That term for an off-white gel coat color has been used by "experts" for many years. I think I got a bottle of gel coat from Spectrum with that name on it, too. But I don't see that term on Boston Whaler's 2016 color chart. That's not proof that Boston Whaler never used that term, just that they didn't use it in that chart. But, other than that oddity, the chart is loaded with information. Thanks for digging that up.
