Continental 10,000 lb keel roller trailer - for sale - $2500

The Continental 10,000 lb keel roller trailer that I've used since 2010 for my 1984 Outrage 25 is for sale. The trailer is in great condition. This style trailer is like the one that LHG has used to pull his Outrage 25 all over the country, and is no longer available from Continental. It fits the 1980s Outrage 25 perfectly with ample capacity left and would also fit the wide-body 25. The trailer may have enough capacity for the bigger Whaler 27 as a 10k trailer and maybe enough length to work also as you can move the winch stand forward a foot or more. It would also easily fit an Outrage 22 but not be excessive. It is 102" wide overall.

I've not spared expenses in setting the trailer up to work well and it does work well.

Titan Brakerite SD electric over hydraulic braking system installed in 2012 - what a big difference over a surge actuator when you are pulling a heavy trailer, and if you back down a steep hill the trailer does not drag you down since it works in reverse also.

Dexter torsion axles installed in 2015. These replaced the original spring axles and are a direct bolt on. I bought them from Owens Trailer. I bought them trying to get a smoother ride for the tow vehicle, as my wife gets badly motion sick which causes challenges for us going places with the boat. They do work well. Axles are the only part that really wears out on a trailer, and these are nearly new. These have spindle lube.

Kodiak stainless steel calipers on all four wheels. I started with coated calipers in about 2011 but after one of those seized about two years later I replaced all with stainless ones and have not had to touch them since. They also have stainless backed brake pads. The discs themselves are Kodiak integrated hub/rotor in the coated version which have worked well.

Four 235-85-16-E Cooper radial truck tires installed in 2015. When I replaced the axles I went with the 235-85-16 size to replace the original 225-75-15 tires both (1) to match the original trailer ride height with the suspension change and (2) to get the better quality and smoother rolling truck tires as opposed to trailer tires. These have about 1500 miles on them. The wheels were new in 2015 also, as were the fenders.

Two spare 225-75-15 tires, one on a regular spare tire mount and one on a trailer spindle, mounted on a Kodiak integrated hub rotor with bearings. If you were to toast a hub while you are traveling, you already have a full hub and bearing assembly ready for replacement. And if you happen to hit something on one side of the trailer and blow out two tires, you are prepared. While these tires are about 2" shorter, they will work fine as a spare. I installed these on the trailer in 2011 or 2012 and used them until I did the torsion axle replacement.

Bow ladder installed on the winch stand for safer climbing into the boat when loading/unloading (I almost always load/unload solo).

I have a very heavy duty set of guide posts that I would include for extra $. The guide posts are crazy big units from VeVe that cost over $500 and that mount to effectively another axle tube that spans the frame. I plan to install these on my new trailer, but would include them installed here for extra $. The only reason I am selling is that I have a new, custom built Myco spread tandem trailer as of August 2016. Thus, this trailer has become a spare.

I have some other spare parts that will come with it also - spare bearings, another spare hub, and if you want it another spare tire, miscellaneous bunk hardware, some Pipe-lights that I never installed if you want them.

$2,500 for the trailer. When I shopped around for a new trailer, a new trailer with equivalent equipment is at least 2x that price and probably more like 2.5x. While you can get a bare bones double axle trailer new for slightly more than my price, it won't have the Stoltz rollers, electric over hydraulic brakes, probably not brakes on both axles, and certainly not stainless calipers.

Lots of nice work added on there.
If I was ready I would consider this, even though it is excessive for my 21 Outrage.
The brakes and axles alone make it a consideration.

Duane, thanks for the positive comments. The parts do work well together - very low maintenance.

It is probably heavier than I'd pick for a 1970s Outrage 21 - it would work but the trailer approaches 2000 lbs itself. The more modern Outrage 21s are a lot heavier and could be ok.

From rearmost double roller to front most roller - 196" center to center

Bunks are 112", 2x6, and supported at 4 cross members. These are overly long for most boats and could easily be shortened.

Minimum distance from trailer rear to bow roller - about 236" depending on adjustment of winch mount on which post. Could likely swap out winch mount to get shorter.

Maximum is about about 40" longer, maybe a little more

Total length, tip-to-tip. 336"
