Somebody on ebay is selling the outer portion of the bow light from a 13' whaler. It looks to be the same as what's on my 17' montauk. See http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=285882224 |

Thanks for the lead! I just bought an old (pre 73, can't tell exact date) and am beginning to bring it back to life. Looks as if I have a project on my hands! |

I've had great results replating the original plated bronz fittings on a couple of mid-80's vintage Whalers. Forget any after-market Zamak stuff as it will not hold up, if you can find anyone to re-plate it. Call New Orleans Plating at 504-525-4765. The address is 630 Carondelette St., New Orleans 70130. Their prices have been surprizingly affordable (less than new), and these guys do super work. If it's salvagable, they can get it done for you with new nickel/chrome plating that is thicker than came on the hardware when it was new. Good luck. |
