Wow, this forum has been on-line for only a month, and it has 260 postings. That is a great response, practically ten new postings per day!

Thanks to everyone who is contributing. I feel strongly that this is now THE place to come for questions about Classic Boston Whaler boats.

Great work, everyone!

Jim -

Anyway to "advertise" it in the web?

Jim,

We thank you for the hard work, and I do know it is hard and time consuming, setting up this forum.

Don has a point about getting on the "search" engines and also a few post to Usenet boating groups would pull in even more participants.

For the search engines sites afraid you need to spend some money today --- not like 3-4 years ago relatively easy to get a top listing, just to many domains competing now.

ZDnet did a review on this program you might want to look over Traffic Seeker Pro check it out http://hotfiles.zdnet.com/cgi-bin/texis/swlib/hotfiles/info.html?fcode=001691&b=pcm It works pretty darn good but you have to buy the full retail version to get any benefit I'm afraid.

Another idea is form an affiliation with a couple of boating commercial sites, which also might give you a source for some income to support your info site.

Again Thank you,

Thomas

I disagree about having to pay to get
good ratings on the search engines. I
have a couple of pages that come up
quite well in Alta Vista and I didn't
pay.

They key is that if someone does a
search on "Boston Whaler" it will come
up on the first page. Make sure it says
"Boston Whaler" in the title tags and the
keywords. Also the common model names
should also be in the keywords.

Chuck,
Sorry I didn't mean to say you have to pay the multitude of search firms operating today --- I meant you might want to consider purchasing one of the programs which help you submit your pages to these firms --- Alta Vista - Direct Hit - dot com directory - GoTo.com - Infoseek - NorthernLight - Deja.com - HotBot -- Yahoo -- Google and about 200 other ones which now exist on the net --- just having meta tags will give you some exposure but not much --

Anyway... just some thoughts and ideas which might help broaden the exposure of this great forum and info site!
Regards, Thomas
