I'm very new to this site and I'm thankful to everyone because the insight and info found here helped me buy my 1st BW. I got a 1978 13'3". The previous owner is a carpenter and he built a center console. Came with a great trailer and a 1991 40HP Yamaha 3 cyl. Also a Hummingbird fishfinder, battery and 6 gal. tank. It was the best total package I could find in Southern California. I saw other set ups for less money, but with '67 and '71 hulls in worse condition than the '78. Some didn't even have steering systems but had 30-40 HP motors. I'm very pleased with the outcome of my purchase. The deal was sealed when we took it out for me to test drive on a very windy day with 4-5ft swells just outside of the harbor in Dana Point, California. Sure, we got a little wet but it's a different world going from a 12'6" inflatable to a whaler.
Already trying to figure out how to maximize the space for a bait tank by hiding the battery in the console or in the cooler that serves as a 2 seater with cushion. Also trying to figure out if hiding the gas tank somewhere is going to be possible. Unlikely but there's lots of mental gymnastics going on in my head.
Do need suggestions on how to remove small rust stains from an anchor that was apparently left accidentally on the deck.
thanks. gus.
