I have heard that the original white rub rails were glued on and not screwed on, is this right. I am looking to buy a 1965 Nauset and it is all original. Anyone out there know if this is true about the white rub rails? Thanks-JACK.

Jack, I just looked at the BW bourchure from 1966 and all the rub rails are white. I understand from other posts on this site that they were glued on. Zack

I bought a 1971 Nauset new in 1971, and it still had the one piece glued-on white rubrail. I replaced it in 1984 with the better (in my estimation) two piece rail by Balbour Plastics that Whaler started using in 1972 or 1973. This later rail that Whaler switched to has a receiver section pop-rivited to the hull, and a black flexible & easily replaceable insert that snaps in. I prefer the newer, tougher, design.

Is the an addition to your family or a replacement for your current boat. Either way, good luck and good fishing.

Chrystal Lite I think? Something fishy is going on, on the site with the Whaler for sale e-mails, my post that I don`t remember posting, and Larry Goltz posting alot of "Preserving the subject" posts, doesn`t seam kosher! Regards-Jack Graner.

OK, the "Preserving" posts did raise my eyebrows, just afraid to ask. Thought it was some kind of secret code I would be better off ignoring....

Otherwise how ya doin' and how is the Whaler (since we are off subject anyway)

I am doing good as is the family! My boat is doing really well, I was so excited to uncover her, you would think I was a 5 year old in a candy store! I found my less than one year old Mill`s mooring cover had been eaten very badly by Mice! It`s being repaired as we speak at a local canvas shop, I hope they do a nice job! Thanks for asking! Happy Whalering! Regards-Jack Graner.
