I have the opportunity to purchase a '79 13' with a 40 hp Merc around the same year electric start no trim. The boat has been sitting on a new trailer for approximately a year in the weeds. I inspected it top to bottom with no visible signs of hull defects. (a good buffing would restore it) The rubrail needs replaced. The engine could use a good cleaning but is otherwise in good shape. I will be doing a compression check and sea trial. Other than the boat being an absolute filthy mess (leaves, sticks, dirt, grime etc.)it is in good shape. Also the wood is in good shape other than needing refinishing. It also has a mooring cover which is ok.

What is the most that I should pay for this? pending sea trial etc.

Is there anything I should be looking for on the '79 13' that caused problems?

I am located in Ohio

Jeff, sold my "good" condition '82 13' whaler in March for $3800. Kind of felt like if I had waited until now I would have gotten $4000 for it. It had an 1988 30hp Johnson, some dings and scratches (I used it a lot,) I had redone the wood in 1996 and it sat on a year old trailer. The only thing that the boat needed was a new steering cable. Hope this helps... -Dave
