posted 05-19-2000 12:49 PM ET (US) I recently bought a 13' Whaler. The previous owner painted the boat and removed the plate at the transome. I am tring to figure out what was the year of manufacturing. Forward of the transon is a interior transon that extends the entire beam of the boat.
Any suggestions as to the year?
Thanks

Richard, I owned a 1971 `13 Sport and I had the full lenghth motor well, also I like it better than the half motor well, I used it as a livewell! I think Whaler went to the half motorwell in 1973? Regards-JACK.

Richard: See Jim's reference section on the 13 for help in your detective work. However, if your boat has the full width splash well, without the serial # you may never be able to determine exact year. I can tell you it's between 1958 & 1971, but that's about all. If you can determine it has a baby blue interior gelcoat, it's earlier. Around 1965 they switched to a more turquoise blue.

Richard: Check inside the bow locker; My 63 13' has a hull ID number 9602 in stenciled white numbers. I seem to remember that my old Nauset had white stenciled ID number on the transom.
